Times a-changed.

So, the DNC has come around again. And just 4 years ago I was zipping around Boston in my Vespa, attending cocktail parties and rallies and listening to great speakers full of optimism for a doomed election.

My mom and I were chatting on the phone today (the time difference kills me, I had to race around the office filing with one hand and typing with another, and trying to have a conversation with my mom at the same time). She remarked on how my life has changed so much in just 4 years. Me: "Yeah, I guess it has. Hunh."

Seriously, it really has. I mean, in 4 years, my job, my home (my coast!), my circle of friends, my love life, my recreational activities; all of these things have changed so much in just 4 years. From 25 to 29. Big years. I guess they really were the years of becoming me...or at least the me that I am now.

You think you're an adult and things settle. But in retrospect, I guess nothing has ever been quite settled. Though the transitions tend to pick up a certain times. I don't think I'm due for a major life transition for a while, though. Right?

They're so good once you've got where you're going but getting where you're going is the hardest part.
