CLOGGERS!
Well. i had quite a weekend. full of lovely things like dates and live music and good friends and comedy and art and the new york times. if you want the unabridged version or we haven't talked in a while (you know who you are!), give me a call. i miss you.
in this post, i'm concentrating on the cloggers. the first time i heard about clogging - the act of kind of hick-tap-dancing when filled with the holy spirit - i thought it sounded like a ridiculous hick thing to do. "god and dancing and hillbillies? hilarious!"
but on saturday, i fell in love with the barbary coast cloggers - 12 gentlemen from sf who have been "clogging to a different fiddler for 25 years." they performed at the free hardly strictly bluegrass festival in golden gate park this weekend (also featuring elvis costello, billy bragg, gillian welch, steve earle and much more).
maybe it stems from my early education in musical theater. or maybe it's just the mele love of dance, or maybe it was because these guys just looked like they were having SUCH A GOOD TIME clogging their little hearts out. without any inhibitions. whatever it was, they were on fire! i so enjoyed their performance. yay clogging! i hear they offer classes......

Wow, I've never heard of clogging before! I wonder if it is primarily a SF/West Coast thing?
