i was at the dmv yesterday getting my ca license. as i walked in to take a seat, a young woman was crouched over the license application with her current license, which looked just like mine - from massachusetts.

obviously, i got excited (it doesn't take much), and blurted out - "did you move here from massachusetts? me too!"

without looking up or missing a beat, she said "hasn't everyone?"

she's right, you know. you can't spit in this town without hitting an expat masshole.

i passed the written driver's exam. the second time.
