N-Y-C!

hey gang. just spent a crazy and wonderful (crazy/beautiful) weekend in nyc visiting family and lots and lots of friends.

i flew in on friday and spent most of the time with mom, dad (in town for tim's birthday) and tim. we were on a neverending quest for the best family photo for our christmas card. seriously. i think we got one on my friend liz's house in brooklyn. phew.

we also spent a lot of time repeating the same conversation over and over again. a typical mele conversation went like this:
[in our hotel room]
dad: "where should i put all this stuff?"
me: "there's a safe in the closet."
dad: "there's a safe?"
me: "there's a safe in the closet."
mom: "there's a safe in the closet?"
me: "yes, there's a safe in the closet."
dad: "i guess i'll put it in the closet."
mom: "where are you going to put it?"
dad: "in the safe in the closet."
me: "you guys are driving me crazy."
dad: "hunh?"
me: "..."
dad: "did you say something?"

otherwise, it was WONDERFUL. i saw so many people i love. and they tried to convince me to move to the east coast...even though they live in the same city and never see each other. here are some pictures taken at bree's aptmt on saturday night. we were enthralled with the latest alumni quarterly...featuring pictures of erin's wedding (from last year). we talked about the usual - getting old, sexual politics, relationships. geez. it was a pretty heavy conversation.

that was saturday. also saw some geneva people (amy and liz) during a fabulous 3 hour brunch at essex. $15 and you get 3 drinks (i had 1 bloody mary and two mimosas - and they don't skimp on the drinks there, i'll tell you that!).

all in all, it was lovely. and wonderful. and it also felt pretty good to come back to the west coast. where it's warm, sunny, and i don't have to wear a coat.

(did i just write that? who am i?)
